Russia’s Mail.Ru to become Warface publisher in Europe, N America

MOSCOW, Jan 17 (PRIME) -- Global publisher My.com, a foreign brand of Russian Internet giant Mail.Ru Group, has agreed with German game developer Crytek to become a single publisher of first-person shooter Warface in Europe and North America from February, Mail.Ru Group said Tuesday in a statement.

“Crytek and My.com are excited about the transition and look forward to the considerable growth of the game in North America and Europe,” said Faruk Yerli, founder and managing director of Crytek.

“My.com team knows the Warface game exceedingly well, thanks to the operation expertise of its parent company Mail.Ru, which is a close partner of Crytek and has been successfully operating Warface in CIS countries for four years and made the game one of the leading online shooter game in CIS with a total player base exceeding 40 million registered players.”

The new partnership will allow Crytek to focus on the development aspect while bringing more content and updates to Warface, which will in turn bring more opportunities for fans and players of the game alike.

Events and cross regional cyber sport activities have already been planned for Europe and North America. Crytek and My.com have developed a plan for a smooth transition of operation of players’ accounts. Characters will be saved, as well as all items, rewards, achievements, and currency balance.

My.com’s online game portfolio of high profile online games such as Revelation Online, Armored Warfare, and Skyforge, will take over publishing and operations while Crytek will focus on the development and support of the game, continuing updates to Warface worldwide.
